I can play ESPN, CBS, and youtube videos fine on PS3, but Netflix is not working correctly. I can see my list of movies, but when I select a movie, it goes to a black screen for a few seconds and then an error message that says, "The data is corrupted" appears. Is there a fix for this?

Did you change your quality? I know that when I do that, it no longer streams Netflix for me.

I started with it in High mode during installation. I just switched it to Medium and it works fine. When I switch it back to High it stops working again. Looks like Medium for me! I wonder why it only works with the slower speed. Thanks for the reply.

Delete all cookies, temp internet files, histories ect.
I have been haveing the same issues discribed in many posts. I ended up deleting all of the above mentioned things from my internet explorer and everywhere else I could find for other reasons.....and then tried this product again. It worked. I am a believer......give it a try and if it works please let others know so they can be happy too.

I have the same problem as described in this thread. I noticed that no one has posted a resolution. Deleting cookies, etc.. does not work.

Can someone from Media Mall address this?

Most likely, all of you who are experiencing this problem have Netflix Silverlight beta accounts. This isn't a question of whether Silverlight is installed on your PC, but rather what type of account you have with Netflix (they are shifting from using Windows Media Player to Silverlight, probably by the end of the year). We expect to have a permanent fix ready by the time their beta program goes final.

Note that there is a sticky forum post about this: Netflix Silverlight beta incompatible with PlayOn.

If you're 100% certain that you don't have a Netflix Silverlight account, send a support request in PlayOn Settings, and we'll take a look!

I can say with 100% certainty that my Netflix account is not enabled for the Silverlight Beta and I am getting this message on my PS3. It is, however, dependent on which movie I am attempting to watch. Today, I picked two movies in a row and received the message. When I selected a third (without resetting the server, logging in/out on PS3, any other changes) the movie correctly began to stream. My guess is intermittent bandwidth issues (which would be odd, since the rest of the movie streamed just fine with no hiccups at all) or that there is actually something about the encoding being done by PlayOn that the PS3 is picky about.

I have TVersity also streaming to my PS3 and the only time I've seen this message with TVersity is if it decided not to transcode the material and simply streamed it to the PS3 and the PS3 decided it didn't like the format.

Your guess about bandwidth is probably a good one. To verify, you may want to try www.speedtest.net and choose San Jose, California as the server to test to. This should give a good indication of your broadband speed with respect to Netflix movies.

Otherwise send a support request and we'll be happy to take a look.

I was having the corrupt message appear for me as well, and it was not a silverlight or bandwidth issue. I played around with settings, and found that when I unchecked "Always process entire video" the Netflix issue went away. I could still pause, resume and navigate the movie too, so I didn't see any adverse effects. Hope that helps someone.

Hmm... to be honest, it's not very likely that the "Always process entire video" setting would have addressed this issue. It sounds like a coincidence, more than anything. This setting only enables and disables whether or not periods of inactivity from the device (because of stopping or pausing) will cause the video processing to continue to completion. Keep an eye on things, as the issue may not be fully resolved for you yet.

Does this for me too on the PS3, ever since I updated to the latest version today, the previous version was mostly fine.

It is working hit or miss on Medium now. It doesn't work at all in High mode. I don't have any experience with the older versions. Yesterday was the first install I have done. It will be really good when all of the bugs are cleared.

I've attributed this to bandwidth.

when i get the "Data Corrupted" error, i hit stop, go back a page, try again and it works fine. i then experienced a frozen frame when i fast forward to quickly. i stop, hit play again and no problem.

i think the problem is with the way the ps3 works. the data corrupted error is just the closest error it knows how to read so thats what it says.

i've noticed that if i pause for at least 30 seconds or longer, i have little to no frame rate or bandwidth issues cause the ps3 needs i think about 1% of caching/buffering before it can play properly on any stream.

a way to determine if i'm right about it being the ps3 and not the Playon software is to test it with the 360.

i'm currently watching 2 streams on 2 ps3's, have 2 wireless computers on and downloading torrents. its during those heavy traffic moments i experience the freeze frame or data corrupt. but a quick stop or pause has seemed to fix it fine.

so if any tweaks need to be done with Playon i would assume its with the way the app and the ps3 buffer between each other.

then again i'm not a developer, so i dont know what i'm talking about. LOL

I do tech support at work though and i tend to look for the most common factor. and the two things i'm certain on from experience is most devices dont know how to read bandwidth issues so it gives you the most likely error code and that the ps3 isnt as quick when it comes to buffering and caching.

Try stopping and restarting the Media Mall Media Server service. That worked for me.

Is the silverlight addressed in the latest patch? I can't find anywhere on the site that describes what the new patch contains.

I am still having this same issue after the patch.

Netflix Silverlight accounts are still not supported. We are hoping to have a release available shortly, especially once the Netflix Silverlight program is no longer beta.

I had a similar situation with the DirecTV HR20-700. I could not play anything from Netflix. Unchecking the "Process all..." button made viewing Netflix possible again.

I was not having any problems with the other content providers (Hulu....), just Netflix.

The "Always process entire video" checkbox in PlayOn Settings should have no effect whatsoever on your ability to start playing a given video. Most likely it was just coincidental. This setting, when disabled, will only stop the download and transcode of videos after a 5 minute timeout. The startup logic is identical regardless of whether this setting is enabled or not.

I spoke with the folks at Netflix today and was advised the full release of Silverlight was out. Hopefully we can use this great application for Netflix on the PS3 again soon.

Same problem... reinstalled winxp on a second hard-drive to see if that would help. Clean install of winxp + IE7 + PlayOn = Data Corrupted. I'm not on silverlight.

Is there a place I can download OLD releases that work until you guys can regress this failure and fix it?

I loved this product before it broke :-)

The Check update button does not indicate that there is a new version of playon v 3268. I changed to this new version and it was the first time I could watch a netflix on my PS3 without data corruption. This version was released on 12/11. I found this version with the data download from the web page. I had joined netflix and playon on 12/6 and must have been forced to the silverlight version of netflix. I also have the 1 move - unlimited option of netflix.

To bad playon must transcode videos. It would be nice if netflix could just transport a mp4 HD stream so that conversion was not necessary.
